Description

The Maton ukulele is the result of combining the best of traditional ukulele design with 21st century production techniques.

This instrument draws on Maton’s extensive background in the use and fine tuning of Australian tonewoods to produce a tone which is rich, full and intriguing, and which evokes the timeless sounds of the classic Hawaiian ukuleles of time gone by.

This is not the first time Maton has produced ukuleles.

A series of Maton soprano ukuleles were produced in the 1960s, many of which have become irreplaceable favourites of some of Australia’s best ukulele players.

The LR Baggs FIVE.O Pickup is small, light-weight – and best of all, specifically engineered to track the uke’s unmistakably unique voice.

The pickup system combines a custom Maton version of our award winning Element pickup, a soundhole mounted volume control and a miniature endpin preamp powered by a 3V battery.

The radically miniaturized design means that the complete system weighs less than a 9V battery and tucks away neatly inside of the small instrument for a non-invasive installation.

Maton

Maton is an Australian manufacturer of guitars and other fretted musical instruments. Maton was founded in 1946 as the Maton Musical Instruments Company by Bill May and his brother Reg. Reg was a wood machinist, and Bill a jazz musician, woodwork teacher and luthier who had for some years operated a custom guitar building and repair business under the name Maton Stringed Instruments and Repairs. The name "Maton" came from the words "May Tone" and is pronounced May Tonne. https://youtu.be/EO2v8Ggxbyo
