The FG-2500 was positioned as a 12-string model of the FG-2000, the top-of-the-line 6-string model, and the top of the body is made of top-quality Ezo spruce. The sides and back are made of solid Jacaranda which is very interestingly named as Jacaranda was often used a pseudonym for Brazilian Rosewood. Some online sources outright say that the FG-2500 line used Brazilian Rosewood which is highly sought after due to its gorgeous grain, tonal quality and rarity. Flamed maple is sandwiched in the middle of the 3-piece body, which is familiar to Yamaha's high-end models, creating a very nice contrast.
