The Yamaha P-143 is the ideal first real piano — an 88-key weighted digital piano that nails authentic acoustic feel and Yamaha's legendary grand piano tone, all in a compact, portable body that won't dominate your living room. For beginners who want to learn properly on a proper piano without the size or price of an upright, the P-143 hits the sweet spot.

The newly developed GHC action brings the same weighted acoustic feel as Yamaha's heavier GHS keybeds, but in a shorter, thinner design. Heavier in the bass, lighter in the treble — exactly like a real grand piano — so the technique and muscle memory you build transfers directly to any acoustic instrument.

Sampled from Yamaha's CFIIIS concert grand with damper resonance for natural harmonic bloom, the P-143's main piano voice is expressive, dynamic and rich. Ten total voices cover grand piano, electric pianos, organs, harpsichord and vibraphone — plenty of inspiration to explore different styles.

The P-143 keeps it simple. A clean one-button interface means less time navigating menus and more time actually playing. A built-in metronome and 20 preset songs support structured practice, while the Sound Boost function adds extra presence when you need to be heard over backing tracks or family members.

Connect the P-143 to Yamaha's free Smart Pianist app via USB for touchscreen control of all settings, plus 303 free classical sheet music scores to work through. A real upgrade for students and teachers alike.  Weighs under 12 kg and stashes easily when not in use. Compatible with the optional L-100 stand, FC3A sustain pedal and SC-KB851 keyboard bag for transport. Bluetooth is available as an option via the UD-BT01 wireless MIDI adapter if you want to add wireless connectivity down the line.
